Snow!

March 2nd, 2009

This morning we had just a dusting of sleet on the ground, but then it started snowing again in the mid afternoon and by late afternoon the ground was covered.  We look forward to more fun tomorrow if we get the expected 6 inches tonight.  Jack really had fun after being a bit bewildered at first.

The Next American Idol

February 17th, 2009

Jack is starting to sing some songs, so Randy, Paula, and Simon better get ready.  In the first video like any good Presbyterian / Methodist he waits for the music to play through one time before launching into the first verse.  In the second he sings acapella while working out the choreography in his costume of choice.

Just in case you need a reminder on the lyrics so you can sing along…
Twinkle, Twinkle, little star.
How I wonder what you are?
Up above the world so high,
like a diamond in the sky.

Warm Days in February.

February 17th, 2009

There is only one thing to do when you get a warm day right in the middle of ACC basketball season.  Jack is practicing his best Tyler Hansboro impersonation just days before the big game in Cameron.  Nice of him to pose for a picture with dear old Dad after “the game.”

Smile for the Camera!

February 17th, 2009

I have been working with Jack to try and get him to smile for the camera.  We have gotten some pretty crazy faces.  Here is one eyes closed attempt and one that was almost a real smile.  The Mr. Potato Head design is Jack’s with a little help from Dad on the construction.  If you watched the Super Bowl you will know from this picture Jack’s favorite comercial (Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head in the car…)

Life from the back of a horse.

January 17th, 2009

Since the Christmas celebrations have ended the horseback riding has only increased.

In this first video, Jack shows off his mounting and dismounting skills.  It only took about a week for him to learn how to climb up and down on his own.  Yes in this particular video he is getting on and off the “wrong” side, but we’ll credit that to his Dad’s eastern “no horse back riding” genes.  I’m sure the Texas genes will kick in soon enough and he’ll be swinging into the saddle from the left.

Mount and Dismount Video

In the second video we document another well known fact that riding horses makes you hungry.  Jack and I have a discussion and involves when we plan to watch the video that I was filming (”After Dinner”) and then quickly move on to what we are planning to have for dinner (”chicken and rice”).  For those of you keeping score at home Jack’s favorite chicken and rice dish so far has been Dad’s New Orleans style dirty rice with chicken tenders.  It comes in a box and Dad can follow the three instructions on the back of the box to get it ready.

Celebration #3 (Grammy and Arnie’s House)

January 17th, 2009

I’m not sure where this crown came from, but you can see more of Jack’s favorite foods…grapes and crackers on his try.  It was clear as I began working on the blog today that Dad suffered from a celebration camera fatigue.  Once we had finally reached Grammy and Arnie’s house Dad did not take nearly as many pictures or videos on our camera!

Celebration #2 (Nana and Pop’s House)

January 17th, 2009

After Jack’s birthday on the 22nd we headed to Nana and Pop’s house for more fun on the 23rd.

Jack got plenty of cool gifts including The Ultimate Mr. Potato Head.  His favorite games so far are dumping out all the peices and then sitting on the floor while Dad piles all the peices up in his lap so he can dump them all out again!  WHOO HOO!

A video on “the birth” of Mr. Potato Head

A Christmas Angel…Angel Hill being the name of the dog in this case who didn’t seem to mind the Potatohead games the least bit.

I think this picture is Jack looking around for another present to open.  Trust me I’m sure he found one!

Nana and Pop’s gift to Jack was his new “horsey” here is a video of the first horsey ride.

Second Birthday

January 17th, 2009

Jack had lots of celebrations for his birthday and Christmas…a party at home, one at Nana and Pop’s house, and another at Grammy and Arnie’s house.  Jack had fun and we certainly did too!

What better way to start a birthday celebration than swinging upside down.  The only real question here is who is having more fun?

Lindsay made Jack’s birthday cake in the shape of his favorite “red blue basketball.”

It sure tasted good too.

Jack also got to open presents for the first time on his birthday.  Of course with all the travel and many celebrations present opening would quickly become a daily or twice daily tradition over the next week.  In this video Jack opens the “Arnie car” a red and blue superman car that as you can hear makes plenty of noise when you shake it up!

Christmas Cookies

December 18th, 2008

Jack and Lindsay took some time last weekend to bake some gingerbread cookies.  The whole process really captured Jack’s attention.  He is a pretty serious cookie maker (and eater as it turned out later!).

Traditional Fall Activities

November 10th, 2008

When was the last time you got to jump in a pile of leaves as big as you are?  Jack sure had fun on Saturday, so we thought we would share a few pictures and a video.
